School sleep workshops
I have been involved in running a series of workshops at two primary schools in Bournemouth: Winton Primary School and St Walburga's Catholic School. The aim is to educate parents about the importance of good, regular, sleep for children. We explore the consequences of poor sleep for the child in the classroom and at home. We consider the causes of poor sleep and investigate ways in which we can improve children’s sleep. Details of a typical workshop are shown below, along with an example of the presentation that we give. We have now been running these workshops since June 2010, and aim to do many more. The rationale and success of the workshops have now been presented to parenting practitioners at Bournemouth Borough Council, and to other professional in the area.
